Approximately every two dormitories in our campus dormitories share the same network bandwidth router. Due to students’ lack of understanding of network environments and antivirus and anti-hacking practices, dormitories’ personal computers, if not equipped with antivirus software, can easily infect each other with viruses, disrupting each other and significantly impacting the dormitory network. The network performance of each router varies depending on the number and severity of computer viruses in each area, leading to varying degrees of instability.

To address the issue of virus infections in student dormitories, our campus has for many years provided students with legitimate, school-purchased antivirus software. We have repeatedly issued notices promoting the installation of antivirus software. However, many students simply want to use the internet without worrying about whether their computers are infected or whether their infected computers may affect others. This laissez-faire attitude leaves the root cause of the virus and interference unaddressed.

I already have antivirus software installed. Is that enough to guarantee I’m safe? Installing antivirus software doesn’t guarantee your computer is problem-free, but not installing it will definitely leave you vulnerable to viruses and Trojans. Just like studying before an exam doesn’t guarantee a passing score, but not studying increases the chances of failing.

Please check your computer to see if it has antivirus software installed, and make sure the virus samples are updated. If your computer doesn’t have antivirus software, we recommend installing the licensed antivirus software purchased by the university. Please help your roommates check their computers to see if they have any antivirus software installed, and notify them of this information.

The following software is for installation and use only within the Tzu Chi University campus network. Installation and virus updates are not permitted outside of the campus. Before installing anti-virus software, please uninstall the old anti-virus software and restart the computer before installing to avoid installation errors.
