Campus Wireless WiFi

Using mobile devices to access the internet is a growing trend. To provide our faculty and students with the advantages of mobile information technology, we have established a wireless campus network infrastructure, providing high-quality wireless internet access throughout most of the campus.

How to Use the Wireless Network:

  • Use your laptop or mobile phone to search for wireless networks and find the Service Set Identifier (SSID): TzuChi. Select it to connect.
  • Other SSIDs that appear on campus may represent wireless base stations set up by departments, labs, or wireless sharing services created by users’ mobile phones. These are not managed by the Center. Please ensure your own security when connecting.

When using the wireless network, please comply with campus network usage guidelines and relevant regulations, and refrain from any violations of information security and intellectual property rights.

Our university has implemented an inter-campus wireless network roaming mechanism. Faculty and students are welcome to use it. Through this roaming mechanism, faculty, staff, and students can easily access wireless Internet access at any participating roaming location. Simply use a wireless-enabled personal computer or handheld device, enter the university-issued account and password, and you can complete wireless roaming authentication on other campuses, enabling inter-campus roaming. 

Because the wireless roaming system’s username and password are currently transmitted in clear text, raising security concerns (possibly due to malicious users intercepting the username and password), the Computing Center will be using a separate, dedicated wireless network authentication username and password.

This dedicated password can be found in the campus information system (School Information System > Computing Center > Wireless Network and VPN Management).

  • To connect to the campus wireless network at a school that has registered for campus wireless roaming, please enter your school’s dedicated wireless roaming authentication username.
  • Faculty and staff, please enter: school system account@rad.tcu.edu.tw. For example, if your email account is “john,” your cross-campus roaming username would be “john@rad.tcu.edu.tw.”
  • If your student ID is 103321001, please enter 103321001@rad.tcu.edu.tw.
  • Enter your dedicated cross-campus password. This will authenticate you to obtain a school-issued IP address and allow you to connect to the internet.
